Conditional Offer

Alternatively, an applicant without a GMAT score can still submit their application and attend the admissions interview. If the Admissions Board decides to give you a conditional offer, you are required to provide a GMAT score before the specific deadline indicated in the Conditional Offer of Admission Letter in order to convert the conditional offer into a full offer.

Due to the enrollment limitations set by our small class size, admission into the program will naturally be competitive. Thus applicants interested in securing their conditional offers are required to pay a RMB 30,000 non-refundable deposit. If fail to do so, the conditional offer will be withdrawn. This non-refundable deposit will automatically be transferred into a non-refundable registration fee once the applicant gets the full offer and confirmation for the 2009 intake.

2. First Selection and Reference Check

Once your application is completed, the MBA Admissions Office will review your application and verify the recommendation letters, degree certificate, and academic transcript you provided. If everything is satisfactory, you will be notified by email once we approve the interview invitation.

3. Interview

The interview panel is composed of Cheung Kong MBA faculty, alumni and staff. The interview serves two purposes. It will evaluate the applicant to determine suitability for admission to the Cheung Kong MBA class and whether to offer a scholarship. Interviews are held in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.

The Cheung Kong MBA Admission Interview is composed of three parts:

l         Group case discussion

l         Panel interview

l         Career consultation

4. Review & Decision

The MBA Admissions Board reviews your interview results, compares them with other applicant interviews, and makes their decision. You will be advised by both regular mail and e-mail of the decision shortly after the interview (normally within two weeks). The decision can either be an offer, conditional offer, rejection, or entry onto the waiting list. Scholarship decisions will be in conjunction with admission decisions.

All candidates are welcome to seek feedback from the admissions office after their interview.

5. Confirmation & Registration Fee

After being admitted, applicants will have two to four weeks to make their decision on whether or not to accept the offer. If you decide to accept, a Registration Fee of RMB 30,000 must be paid in order to confirm their place.

Reapplication & Deferral

Reapplication

In some cases, we may encourage applicants to re-apply in later years. Reasons include limited work experience, limited management responsibility, or weak GMAT scores. To re-apply, you must complete a new application but will not be required to re-submit recommendation letters, academic transcripts, official certificates, and GMAT score unless there has been a significant change. The application fee is required with each application.

Deferral

Due to the highly competitive nature of admissions, all offers are for only a specific academic year. Applicants may submit an application for deferred admission if there is a need, however, scholarship and financial aid offers can NOT be deferred.

Starting from 2009, deferrals will only be granted to those with cases of serious medical emergencies or pregnancies. Relevant medical supporting documents must be provided in order to confirm the claims. Application for deferral must be submitted into the Admissions Office no later than August 1, 2009.

Alumni Support

The Cheung Kong MBA program alumni and current students are closely linked with the school and willing to provide help whenever needed.

To help you make an informed decision, we are happy to refer you to an alumnus or current student with a background similar to yours to share with you his or her experience at Cheung Kong GSB. You are encouraged to seek out this support.
